Our design process

Our garden design service will enable you to get the most out of your outdoor space and create a garden that meets your needs and budget.

Our design process:

Initial Consultation & Design Brief

This is the beginning of the process where we will visit you to discuss how to make the most of your garden, understand your requirements, budget and discuss the garden’s potential.  It is also a good opportunity for both the client and designers to get to know each other and decide if they are a good fit for working together.

A brief for the design is then drawn up and sent to you after the meeting for review, along with the design cost estimate.

Garden survey

Once the brief and design estimate have been agreed and accepted, we will undertake a site visit to obtain detailed measurements and complete site analysis which will enable us to produce a scaled plan of your garden.

For complicated spaces, a professional land survey may also be required.

Concept Design

The design concept is a visual presentation of how the garden could look and will include both a design drawing and an accompanying mood board.  At this stage, the design features are discussed and can evolve and develop as required.  Once we have discussed the initial design draft, we will develop the design concept into the master plan.

Planting Plan

This is the exciting stage of the design where a detailed planting scheme is developed, including plant specifications.  The planting plan will take into consideration the soil type and the aspect of the garden, complement the garden design and provide all year round interest.

Once the planting plan has been agreed, a full planting schedule confirming quantities can be provided.  Alternatively, we can provide a quotation to source and supply suitable plants and complete the planting if this is of interest.  As part of this process, you will receive a maintenance guide which will enable you to care for your garden going forward.

Project Estimate

We will need to have your written confirmation that you accept the project brief and estimate and our Terms and Conditions to enable us to proceed with the design services for planting.

Project Management

In addition to the above, we are also able to help progress the project from design to reality by producing a ‘scope of work’ specification, recommend hard landscaping companies and once the work commences, provide an on site a project monitoring service.  These services will be quoted for separately once the design has been completed.

We enjoy working with a network of trusted craftsmen and contractors to build the gardens and complete the hard landscaping elements, such as pergolas, patios, paths, etc.  As part of the project management service, we visit the site regularly while other contractors are involved to make sure the design detail and our vision are brought to life in line with the agreed design.
